During the first two years of the project, the research team published a total of 23 SCI-indexed international journal papers, among which 19 were corresponding-authored by Professor Chung-Wei Kung with the corresponding affiliation at the Department of Chemical Engineering, National Cheng Kung University. Many of these corresponding-author papers were published in prestigious international journals in applied chemistry and materials chemistry, such as ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, Chemical Society Reviews (impact factor = 39), Chemical Communications, and the top journal in coordination chemistry, Coordination Chemistry Reviews (impact factor = 23.5). Three of these works were selected as cover articles of the respective international journals, further enhancing the international visibility of the university’s research.
In addition, Professor Kung was invited to deliver talks at major international conferences, including serving as a keynote speaker at the 9th International Conference on Metal-Organic Frameworks and Open Framework Compounds (MOF2024), held in Singapore from July 15 to July 19, 2024. This biennial conference is the largest and most established international meeting in the relatively emerging field of metal-organic frameworks. Professor Kung was the only scholar from Taiwan invited as a keynote speaker at this year’s conference.
Furthermore, starting in September 2024, Professor Kung was appointed as an advisory board member of Chemical Society Reviews (impact factor = 39), one of the top journals in the field of chemistry. He is the only scholar from Taiwan among the approximately 90 current members, underscoring his influence in the international chemical sciences community.
At the same time, Professor Kung is dedicated to talent cultivation and teaching. In September 2023, he received the NCKU Outstanding Teaching Award for the 2022–2023 academic year, and in 2024, he was also recognized with the Department of Chemical Engineering Teaching Excellence Award. His research team includes undergraduate thesis students, master’s and doctoral students, as well as research assistants, many of whom have received awards under his guidance.
