Introduction to the event

Dr. Hsiao-Han Chang collaborated with Facebook and Harvard University to study the spread of coronavirus using human movement data. Facebook aggregated anonymized mobility data to estimate human movements between regions and shared high resolution population density maps as part of Facebook's Data for Good program. The team led by Dr. Chang developed a disease dynamic model parameterized by the mobility and population density data. This model can be used to infer the impact of between-region travel on disease spread and quantify the potential effect of different levels of travel restrictions on disease control.
