Dr. Chun-Wei Lin_ Lab orientation
Introduction to the event
New graduate students and undergraduate students report to the lab on July 3rd, 2023. PI prepares a training course of 16 classes for them. Except for the first class which is about the lab orientation, there is homework for the rest of the classes. Students must upload their report to the shared Onenote which is also used as the lab notebook for the coming research. PI will grade their reports online and give the students feedback afterwards. The classes are listed below.
- Lab orientation
- Pipeting and validation
- Vortexing sonication centrifugation and heating
- Dynamic light scattering
- Buffer preparation
- Cloning I
- UV/Vis absorption
- Protein and DNA gel electrophoresis
- Cloning II
- Microscopy
- Bacteria culture
- Cloning III
- Membrane and vesicles
- Cloning IV
- Cloning V
- Data analysis
In the end, every student passes the training. The graduate students start meeting with PI to finalize the topics of their graduate research. The undergraduate students begin to work with their mentors and make their contribution to the research in the lab. The research about the molecular mechanism of the signal transduction among the membrane proteins progresses steadily in the lab.
