2022 Annual report of Yushan Young scholar Dr. Pin-Chao Liao
Introduction to the event
During this funding period, the main focus was to elucidate the mechanism of the novel mitochondrial quality control pathway, mitochondria-associated degradation (MAD), using budding yeast as our model system. In addition, we established a new model system in Drosophila (Fruit fly). These studies will provide us with a deeper understanding of the regulatory mechanisms of this pathway and may contribute to future medical treatments for age-related diseases.
Assistant Professor Pin-Chao Liao published two papers in international journals and had five invited talks during this year. Dr. Liao, together with other faculty members in yeast research within the college, co-hosted the 2022 Taiwan Yeast Meeting to facilitate research exchange and collaboration in this field.
