Introduction to the event

Since Professor Harry Harding assumed the position of a short-state Yunshan Scholar since August 1, 2018, he has engaged and contributed in the following tasks:

1. Fostering a Research Team

He is contributing to a multiple-disciplinary team on the ways in which smaller states in the Asia-Pacific region are navigating the growing rivalry between China and the United States.

2. Liaising for International Cooperation

With a strong personal network, he offered a valuable service in connecting the University in general and the Social Science College in specific to develop a bilateral relationship with such a prestigious school as the University of Virginia.  He also provided valuable advice in building up competitive programs recruiting international students.

3. Forging Policy Advice     

By keynote speeches and private meetings with public officers, he also presented advisory opinions on a variety of critical policy issues.
