Introduction to the event

Professor Charles Tu established the engineering in agriculture and biotech leadership center (ENABLE center) in National Cheng-Hsing University (NCHU) in 2018. In order to nurture and develop cross-research area teams with potential in the NCHU. In 2019, Prof. Tu had subsidized 8 projects and then would subsidize 20+ cross-research area projects in the next three years.

For promoting the international popularity of NCHU, Prof. Tu urged Dean Yang of the School of Electrical Engineering to lead a team to the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) for the first academic exchange. Prof. Pei, Prof. Liu, and Student Liu went to UCSD for international exchanges and cooperation in the same year. This experience could promote the international academic exchanges and boost the research energy, opening up the horizons of students and teachers of NCHU. It is necessary for Taiwan's academic and industrial circles.

For his research, Prof. Tu set up a new research team in 2019. He started to continue the past research by using the molecular beam epitaxy to develop a long-wavelength vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL). In the future, He will apply for a research project from the Ministry of Science and Technology of Taiwan and cooperate with other professors to form a strong industry-academia development team. This team will secure a place for Taiwan's industry in the world.
