Introduction to the event

Academic Research:
Currently, I am conducting Earth system model simulations focused on the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM). The related findings were presented at the European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly held in Vienna in April 2025 and at the Taiwan Geosciences Assembly (TGA) in June 2025, both receiving significant attention. In addition, I have completed model experiments investigating the interplay between oceanic carbon dioxide uptake and changes in marine nutrients. These results were presented during my invited talk at GEOMAR in Germany in July 2025 and drew considerable interest.

Talent Cultivation:
From August 2024 to July 2025, I supervised two master students and two undergraduate summer interns. One of the master students received a poster award at the 2025 TGA. Both undergraduate students were awarded prizes for excellence in their final summer project presentations.

Teaching Innovation:
I launched two new graduate-level courses at the Institute of Oceanography, National Taiwan University: "Marine Elemental Cycles and Environmental Changes" and "Marine Biogeochemical Modeling." These courses are available to graduate students and senior undergraduates across departments.

International Collaboration:
In August 2024, I was invited to give a seminar and engage in academic exchange at JAMSTEC (Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology), specifically with the WPI-AIMEC Marine Ecosystem Group. I also discussed future collaboration plans with Dr. Sherwood Lan Smith, the group leader. Furthermore, my ongoing collaboration with GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel in Germany continued with an invited visit and talk in July 2025, which received enthusiastic responses. We also discussed future collaborative opportunities, including plans to invite their researchers to visit Taiwan.
