Introduction to the event
Dr. Sylvie DUFOUR is from the National Museum of Natural History (MNHN) & Centre National de la Researche Scientifique (CNRS), France. Dr. DUFOUR has been awarded as a Yushan Fellow from 2024 to 2027 for short-term (3 months) exchange member of research/teaching faculty at the Center of Excellence for the Oceans, National Taiwan Ocean University (CEO-NTOU). Dr. DUFOUR’s Yushan Fellow Program is in line with the implementation of the CEO-NTOU for the special project of Ministry of Education "Phase II Higher Education Sprout Project Part 2 - The Featured Areas Research Center Program " and the project is entitled "The Responses and Coping Strategies of Ocean and Aquaculture to Global Change". Under the support of Yushan Fellow Program, Dr. DUFOUR and Professor Ching-Fong CHANG, Life-time National Chair Professor, Center of Excellence for the Ocean/Department of Aquaculture have formed a collaborative team and conducted the collaboration research, teaching and cultivating graduate students.
Dr. DUFOUR is working together with professor CHANG as a research/teaching team. A 3-credit graduate course “The Ocean and its Biodiversity in the Face of Global Change” was offered. Dr. DUFOUR helps to advice graduate students and work for the project “The Reproductive and Endocrine Physiology of Fish, Cephalopods, Crustaceans, and Corals” and “The Adaptation of Marine Organisms in the Shallow-Water Hydrothermal Vent off Kueishan Island”. Dr. DUFOUR had co-advised doctorate students and postdoctor fellows and interacted with young assistant professors. During this period, Dr. DUFOUR had two joint-publication papers with Prof. Ching-Fong CHANG, the papers were published in the “General and Comparative Endocrinology”. Three other manuscripts are under final preparation for publication.
Dr. DUFOUR is also promoting the internationalization of the Center of Excellence for the Oceans, NTOU. Dr. DUFOUR was invited to present 3 plenary lectures at several international conferences with Yushan Fellow of CEO-NTOU affiliation. Dr. DUFOUR is organizing international conference at the CEO-NTOU. Under the special assistance of Dr. DUFOUR, a master graduate student (Pei-Lu CHIN) went to the National Museum of Natural History for 152 days internship in 2023-2024 and a young assistant professor (Dr. Chein-Ju LIN) went to France (National Museum of Natural History, University of Sorbone, and University of Normandy) for the collaboration work in 2024.
