Introduction to the event

1. The University of Washington-Prof Jenq-Neng Hwang established the UW-NCTU AI Lab, a research team composed of professors from the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University and jointly engaged in projects of AI industry-academia cooperations. He participated in the Taichung Smart City Traffic Flow Project in cooperation with the National Center for High-performance Computing-Prof. Fang-Pang Lin (a senior researcher of the NCHC) in May of this year.
Traffic flow and Vehicle Speed estimation systems need accurate and efficient vehicle detection and tracking models to meet the limited resources in the budget, dimension, memory, computing, and electric power.  Another challenge is camera calibration which is the critical component to build this camera-based vehicle speed surveillance system. To tackle this problem, Dr. Huang proposed a safe and convenient calibration method for surveillance cameras. This system can apply to the real world and verify by the Bureau of Transportation, Taichung City Government. 2. Wine Label detection system- Prof. Hwang proposed verification method to verfiy different kinds of wine label. This projcet will start industry-academia cooperation in 2021 Dec. 3. Pose-detection based on privacy considerations- Using cross-modality supervised learning to build a radar system. Since
millimeter wave radar only detect human's signal, this method has no privacy issue.
