First-year report of Dr. Hsiang-Yi Karen Yang
Introduction to the event
In 2020, Dr. Yang taught three courses at National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) and organized the first NCTS-TCA Summer Student Program. Dr. Yang successfully obtained three-year funding from MOST and upgraded the high-performance computing cluster at the Institute of Astronomy at NTHU. The objective of the research group is to use advanced numerical methods to investigate energetic feedback processes from galactic winds and supermassive black holes and how they impact the evolution of galaxies and galaxy clusters. Dr. Yang is currently leading a group of 8 students and providing them with scientific and programming trainings necessary for their career development.
Dr. Yang presented in the Nobel Prize in Physics Public Lecture at Department of Physics, NTHU on 11/18/2020.
