Prof. Ronaldo I. Borja, Yushan Scholar in the Department of Hydraulic and Ocean Engineering at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), has been awarded the John Booker Excellence Medal by the International Association for Computer Methods and Advances in Geomechanics (IACMAG), as well as the Mary F. Wheeler Medal by the United States Association for Computational Mechanics (USACM), in recognition of his long-standing outstanding contributions to geomechanics and computational mechanics.

As a Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Stanford University, Prof. Borja has actively collaborated with research teams at NCKU since being appointed a Yushan Scholar by the Ministry of Education. By integrating his world-leading expertise in computational mechanics with Taiwan’s key hydrogeomechanics and land subsidence challenges, he continues to deepen international research cooperation and enhance Taiwan's academic impact in related fields.
